All boys who are in grades 3rd-12th and have received their First Holy Communion are welcome to participate in the life of our parish as an altar server.
This is a special privilege and a wonderful way to respond to God's call for service to one another.
The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest and/or deacon in the celebration of the liturgy and the Eucharist during Mass.
New servers must attend a training session which includes information on the Mass and their specific duties.
This ministry provides the linens used during the celebration of the Eucharist. Caring for the church and the sacred areas offers a much-needed service to the parish. They help to purchase altar increments. They also help with funeral meals for families of the deceased. For more information contact Melissa De La Cruz. She can be reached by calling the parish office at 361.854.3800.

These ministers assist in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at the Mass. Through humble service as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, the minister is united with his fellow members of the Body of Christ. Service inside the liturgy should make visible the faith and love the minister manifests outside the liturgy. A two-hour training session is required. Time commitment is variable.

Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass in the Liturgy of the Word. The lectors read the opening welcome, the first and the second readings. Training is provided. Consider sharing your talents by proclaiming God's Word.
Our young children are led into the St. Jude Chapel at the 10:30 am and 12:30 pm masses. The Liturgy of the Word is proclaimed to them from the Children's Lectionary and God's word is explained as it relates specifically to them. During this time in the chapel, the children also praise God through song, and on the first Sunday of each month, the children present a song that they have learned to the congregation.
This ministry is open to men and women from high school age and up. Ushering goes beyond seating the congregation, taking the collection, and handing out bulletins.
Ushers are responsible for knowing the flow of the Mass, as well as identifying and solving situations as they occur.
